Sylt
Sylt is an island in northern Germany, just across from Denmark. Its wind-beaten dunes, covered by sparse vegetation, stretch for a hundred kilometers or so. The spit of land plunges directly into the sea, barely distinguishable from the sky, whose density of light creates an overexposed effect. My eye was struck by the almost reliefless juxtaposition of layers of plant colors. I transposed the intense horizontality of the landscape into the verticality of the images.
