Kronstadt-contre flux
It can be projected as a film or designed as an installation.
A month's existence in Kronstadt confirmed my idea of floating on the leading edge of an empire that had folded in on itself under the reverse shocks of socialist ideology and unbridled capitalism. Repainted, rusted, twisted and restored gutters are the city's arteries. They bear witness to the upheavals of Kronstadt. The cars are the moving, musical element. They are old ladas, a kind of rolling wreck straight out of Soviet history. Once popular, they are now surviving cast-offs, often used as clandestine cabs. Criss-crossing the landscape, they loop around in a history that has lost its meaning.
