Landscape facts

My photographic research is an experience of landscape. To put it in François Julien's terms, it's about living in a landscape. Very quickly, the landscape you think you're looking at becomes cloaked in a haze of enigma. Neither color, nor form, nor density, nor scale are certain. I tried to find in literature a remedy, a preparation for this sensation of wavering among the non-living, of being insecure in the face of the world as it unfolds before and around us. I set out to update the accuracy of the poets' intuitions and feelings. With these northern landscapes, photographed as they were before they faded away, I wanted to form images as minimal as possible, to allow even one fact to remain. Facts of landscape, facts of light: possibly having been there. "Landscapes with absent figures".
